Who’s In Control

I am trying to regain control of my life. One day at a time. Some days I find my walk on the path… 1 step forward, 2 steps back.

Found this recently. I wrote it in a January 1, 1999 journal. (We didn’t call it blog then)

Psalm 1:6 (NLT)
For the Lord watches over the path of the godly.

He also provides assurance for following Him. God loves His creations, He takes care of His things. But, we have to be godly.

What is a godly person? Is it a “do not” person or a “do” person? A godly person delights in doing everything the Lord wants, day and night they think about His love. I want to be a godly person.

Fast forward 18 years…I know I’ve yelled at God a lot over those years. But I have also relied a lot for His guidance.

Psalm 46:10 (NLT)
“Be still, and know that I am God!
I will be honored by every nation.
I will be honored throughout the world.”

You know what? It’s not about regaining control… it’s about letting loose and letting God watch over my path. Doing everything I can to be a godly person. Time to start my hike.

How do I see me.

“It’s always fascinating how people see us versus how we see ourselves.” Not my words, my friend’s words. I’d never thought about it that way. Important to hang around wise/smart people.

Questions…

How do you see me? How do I see me? How do you see you? How do I (others) see you? How does God want us to be seen? (Sorry so deep…)

When I show up at a meeting, (and I do a lot). Am I an “ugg” or engaged. I realized recently I can be an “ugg”. So. From now on before going into the meeting I will stop and ask God to not let me be an “ugg” but an encouragement. That’s how I want to be seen.

1 Corinthians 11:1
Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ.

Thanks friend.

Listen… and hear.

My wife often told me I had to, “make a difference… because you have the opportunity not a lot of people have”. Those words are ringing in my ears, LOUDLY. Those that knew her, knew her wisdom. She was my (everyone’s) greatest supporter. I often thought she should have been mayor and I could have been best man. I hesitated to run for Supervisor, until she said “do it”. I pledge, “I will make a difference for the people I serve, because I have the opportunity”. Dear God, here I am. You know what, this begs the question, “where are you?” Ready to make a difference, because you can?

Appreciate a friend… You might be entertaining an angel unaware…

My wife had quite a collection of angels. Never thought much about it until yesterday. Starting to go thru the house.

Angels. (I know they trumpeted in the birth of Christ, “Angels we have heard on high”) I came across Hebrews 13. St. Paul talking about that we have angels helping us, around us, angels that we are unaware of.

Always loved the tv show, “Touched By An Angel”. Made me think.

Hebrews 13:2 Living Bible (TLB)
2 Don’t forget to be kind to strangers, for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it!

I’m sure my wife entertained a lot of angels, and she knew it. That’s who she was.

Psalm 91:11-13 Living Bible (TLB)
11 For he orders his angels to protect you wherever you go. 12 They will steady you with their hands to keep you from stumbling against the rocks on the trail. 13 You can safely meet a lion or step on poisonous snakes, yes, even trample them beneath your feet!

Not sure about the lions and snakes. Anyway. A lot to process. And it all started with beginning to go thru my wife’s things. And oh, if you’re an angel, please identify yourself. And thank you God.

New shoes.

Who do I want to be now that I have a chance to put on a new pair of shoes. And my friend told me those new shoes can take me new places. It’s no longer about what I want, it is about what those around me need. I’ve got everything I need. My new marching orders…

Philippians 2:4The Message (MSG)
2 1-4 If you’ve gotten anything at all out of following Christ, if his love has made any difference in your life, if being in a community of the Spirit means anything to you, if you have a heart, if you care— then do me a favor: Agree with each other, love each other, be deep-spirited friends. Don’t push your way to the front; don’t sweet-talk your way to the top. Put yourself aside, and help others get ahead. Don’t be obsessed with getting your own advantage. Forget yourselves long enough to lend a helping hand.

How can I help you.
